At the CRUK Manchester Centre, we have partnered with the CRUK Cambridge Centre and CRUK City of London Centre, to facilitate a bi-monthly seminar series focussing on amplifying the voices, opinions and encountered challenges of often underrepresented groups in cancer research. This includes allowing a platform for speakers and panellists from these groups to discuss how we can improve opportunities and outcomes for this individuals, whether that be through working with colleagues and trainees within our Centres, and beyond; or through care for cancer patients who come from these backgrounds.
This seminar series is designed to provide a space for audience members to ask questions and voice their own opinions in our interactive ‘Lets Talk About…’ sessions and for speakers to provide relevant personal experiences and stories to the chosen topic. These efforts are integral to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work ongoing across the Centres network, and our aim for the series is to encourage meaningful and impactful discussion from which we can all learn and consequently make changes and improvements in our environments.
