What is the CRUK Bespoke Curriculum?
Our Cancer Research UK Bespoke Curriculum provides training to MB-PhD, Clinical, and Non-Clinical cancer-focused PhD students to develop skills and become inclusive cancer research leaders of the future.
Our tailored curriculum is delivered through mixed methods, including lectures, practical experience and interactive workshops.
Funded through our CRUK Clinical Academic Training Award, our bespoke curriculum is run annually and provides training in five key themes:
- Clinical Trials of the Future – working alongside clinical trial specialists, to explore how technologies, methodologies, biology-driven trials, and digital developments will affect the trials of the future
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – workshops and training aimed at building trust and meaningful patient and public engagement, and towards diverse participation and involvement in scientific research
- Health Data Sciences – accessing and using content from the PG Cert Health Data Sciences on data engineering, mathematics, statistics and machine learning, human factors and digital transformation, data visualisation and communication
- Research in Healthcare Systems – lecture and workshop opportunities in conducting pivotal population-based ways of promoting health, delivering care, and supporting the economic sustainability of the system within communities and cities
- Leadership – developing future leaders and promoting and ensuring positive research culture, and diverse and inclusive research leadership role models
Each theme is designed to ensure that our PhD cohorts are holistically equipped for the next stage of their career to become inclusive cancer research leaders of the future.
All new CRUK-funded MB-PhD, Clinical and Non-Clinical PhD students must attend training in each pillar before the end of their programme. We will email all new students with a link to each training session.
You can also register for each training session in advance via our Events and Seminars Calendar.
