Gerben has experience in medicine, physics, tumours and radiobiology, and aims to move the field forward to obtain more insight into novel treatment strategies and initiate practice-changing trials. His research focuses on improving the treatment of patients with primary brain tumours from a clinical and translational perspective. It is his goal to elucidate underlying mechanisms of treatment resistance, study new treatment strategies and ultimately improve the treatment outcome of our patients. Within his research, he primarily focus on the patients who seem to progress rapidly after surgery and on strategies applied before the surgery. He hopes this novel approach contributes to the necessary paradigm shift for patients with brain tumours.
